I just finished listening to Harry Murray’s podcast about smallmouth bass fly fishing!
Harry is from Virginia – and he is an experienced podcaster!
The best part was when Harry described “The Chase” – when the smallmouth bass comes from the deeper part of the water and chases the shiner minnows across a shallow area of a river bed, generally along the weed-bed edges – just at dawn or dusk.
I’ve never watched the schools of minnows fleeing as an indicator that a bass was chasing them! You can bet that when I’m fishing this weekend, I’ll be using my blue-blocker sunglasses to look for minnows – not smallmouth bass!
