Smallmouth Bass are a schooling fish, so if you catch one, chances are, you’re in the right place.
Schools often inhabit feeding areas, such as underwater structures throughout the water body. Following the spring spawn, Smallmouth Bass are usually discovered in the nearest drop-off or submerged structure.
In the summer, expect Bass schools to hang out around offshore islands, drop-offs, humps, shelves throughout the water body.
In the fall, Smallmouth Bass congregate adjacent to deeper waters where they will winter. They are often found in the 20-35 foot depth range, so if you hook one, you have found a school.
