Jigging for Smallmouth Bass – Smallmouth Bass Fishing

by admin on April 1, 2009

thundermistlures asked:

www.thundermistfishingtips.com Nice smallmouth bass and bonus walleye! Today we’re fishing for smallmouth bass in Lake Erie, Buffalo, New York. We’re fishing with tube jigs and caught a some large smallmouth bass and even a nice-sized walleye as an added bonus at the end. Please excuse the horrible wind-rumble at the end ; we are upgrading our equipment.

We are not sure what the song is – or if this tune is even from a song or if it is just a tune?

It was obtained from a free site – hope you like it.

Ivo was using a tube, jig head that goes right inside the tube jig.

Thanks for writing in & good fishing!

…one more point, the salt adds scent & “flavor” which will help the fish hang on to your tube longer.

Good fishing.

awesome video, setting the hook jigging is the best

The salt may help to extend the life of the tubes in the package as a preservative. It also helps the tubes from sticking together and may also help to keep the tubes firm.
Thanks and good fishing!

Very nice video, you should try brown tubes with gold flakes they work really good for rocky bottoms.

thundermistlures May 7, 2009 at 11:19 am

Thanks for the compliment on the Viper Spoons…they really do work great!

As for the rod & reel, Ivo was using a quantum energy reel & a quantum energy rod (medium action, Im7 graphite)

Thanks for writing in & good luck on the water!

Glad you enjoyed the video & thanks for the feedback! Congrats on your basstender – that will suit you well in smaller lakes.
When fishing for summer bass, look for points & rock structure. Look for changing depths and structure.

Example: you are in 15 feet of water & then it comes up to 10 & then back down to 15 – fish that area as it will most likely hold samllies.

We have a great article on our thundermist fishing tips site on fishing structure which may help. Good luck on the water

I see a lot of boats. Also i have a Dominator 175 Sport. Basically the same boat.

thundermistlures May 16, 2009 at 7:51 am

…Very good observation….Yes – it’s a Navigator 175CS & it’s a very nice boat!

fender776 May 18, 2009 at 10:39 am

A Navigator?

thundermistlures May 19, 2009 at 1:17 pm

This particular boat is an Alumacraft. Triton does make great boats though.

Thanks for writing in & all the best on the water!
